I still remember our house like a dream, everyone wants to sit there and draw some good drawings because of the amazing natural beauty there. There was a lot of greenery, there was a lot of silence and the atmosphere was pleasant. It doesn’t seem like there will be that much peace nowadays.I have been interested in painting since my childhood. I was going to ’Balmohan Vidyamandir School’ in Dadar, Mumbai, that time it was called Bombay. As my house is very close to the school, our art teacher used to call me to draw a welcome rangoli. I learned a lot from him, he used to tell me a lot about painting. Every class in our school used to prepare one handmade magazine every year. I always got to do the cover page for that Magazine. At that time our school only provided us with colour and drawing papers. But while drawing at home, both my parents used to say, what are you doing? They didn’t like me drawing like that, because they thought I should get more marks in my studies. My uncle used to supply me with papers for my drawings, on the back of old paper in his office I used to get a lot of those papers. Many times I used to draw on the black flooring of our house. It was my hobby. I still remember, once I drew Meenakumari five or six times. My mother appreciated me every time but I was not satisfied. Due to persistence, Meena Kumari’ s drawing created by me started to appear better. Everybody appreciated that drawing. If we do something consistently, persistently, we benefit from it sometime or the other. It is perfectly applicable to drawing and painting. You have to keep practising; Practice makes us perfect.Art is an arrangement of various elements to give an experience to ourselves and others. There are 64 arts considered traditional in Indian Mythology. Photography, animation, game designing, virtual reality art, digital art are the new forms of art. Many of these subjects should be taught in art school. But in recent times children already know these topics. They learn them with the help of Google. But unfortunately, these newly introduced arts are not taught in Academic Education and training,Our own experience teaches us how and how much to appreciate the painter’s skills while looking at any drawing and painting. We always appreciate a song quickly, but not drawing or painting. Every picture is beautiful, we see it well, but do not watch them carefully. One should look at any Painting minutely from different directions, should think on the concept and creation of the painting. Then it has to be evaluated in its Merit which we feel from our mind.Similarly, If we look at nature with awareness, we find beauty in many things. One should get used to looking at nature closely, if you take a tree, its shape, the colour of its leaves, the different shapes of the different tree’s leaves, the colour of the tree trunks, the slenderness of the tree, the birds sitting on it, the butterfly, there is so much to see, this is where art begins. Minute and keen Observation is a very essential factor to create any form of art. Edison says, wherever there is a creation there is a creator behind it, without a creator there can be no creation. The depth of our thought should reflect in all of our Drawing or Painting.Back in those days modern art was just beginning. At that time we did not understand its meaning, but gradually I began to understand it. After watching them keenly and thinking about those paintings. The trend of drawing big paintings started at that time. For that however one should be able to afford to buy large canvases from home, which I could not afford. So making a big Painting was a dream for me at that time. Going to Jehangir Art Gallery or Nehru Center Art Gallery and seeing the paintings, I always realised that I can paint this too, but the problem was, from where to get such a big canvas? At that time a brilliant idea came to mind. It was a brilliant Idea for me, but might be stupid for others. I immediately implemented that Idea. I still remembered that ecstasy of that time. Medium sized or small sized Billboards placed on the streets were taken down by me with the help of my friends and new Drawings were painted with oil paint on the back side. The effect was the same, the practical implementation of my brilliant idea was good, but still, the question of who would take those paintings on the backside of billboards and printed banners would always loom.Recently many drawing contests have been held. Children benefit from these competitions. Unknowingly, through participating in these competitions we are always getting the opportunity to see many good drawings and paintings of other participants and unknowingly, our art improves. If the drawing or painting is well created, there is also a prize. When the reward is received, it gets a different overwhelming experience from others and boosts our confidence. Unfortunately, there were no such competitions in our childhood. If you don’t study and keep practising your Art, your creativity will not become
